Canada has a high need for skilled and unskilled workers. This is because it has an ageing economy with a low birth rate. There are simply not enough people in the country to fill all the jobs. This is one of the main reasons why Canada is the place to go to start or continue your career. The opportunities are vast and the pay is high compared to many other countries.
If you would like to work in Canada, the chances are high that you'll need a Canadian work visa to do so.
Types of Canadian Permits
There are two main types of Canadian work permits.
An open work permit which allows you to work for any employer in Canada, except for those employers who:
- are listed as ineligible on the list of employers who have failed to comply with the conditions ; or
- regularly offers striptease, erotic dance, escort services or erotic massages.
An employer-specific work permit which allows you to work according to the conditions on your work permit, these include:
- the name of the employer you can work for;
- how long you can work for; and
- the location where you can work (if applicable)
